(May 21, 2007) — Phihong USA, a global leader in Power-over-Ethernet solutions, has developed a low-cost, 8-port midspan that lowers the cost of implementing PoE, VoIP and single points of backup in small office/home office (SOHO) environments. To date, most implementations of PoE have been for enterprise installations, but fully compliant with the IEEE802.3af standard in detection, disconnect, and voltage control, the Gigabit-compatible 8-port midspan provides a cost-effective method for powering VoIP phone systems and multi-camera security systems.

The 8-port midspan provides backup power to phones and security cameras in an entire office, using a single UPS. When the power
goes out, the phones still work. This guarantee of 100 percent up time is particularly beneficial to small offices where easy accessibility to customers is the key to growing the business.

The 8-port midspan features both connection and diagnostic indicators, and can be stacked on a switch or rack-mounted. The low-cost midspan supports Cisco legacy IP
phones and access points with no additional dongles or wire swappers required.
The midspan measures 7.8 inches x 8.9 inches x 1.75 inches.
