Power Adapter Simplifies Connections For Portable Electronic Products
Fremont, CA (January 16, 2002) — For use with small and lightweight portable
electronic products such as PDAs, digital cameras, MPEG players and other personal electronic devices, Phihong offers its 5-watt R Series adapter. The adapter features
replaceable power plugs that are small, light and cost effective, enabling the power supply to be connected to virtually any power outlet in the world.
Other desktop power supply adapters come with standard IEC connectors that require up to eight different power cords for full worldwide coverage. Also, each
power cord can cost the same as all four Phihong replaceable power plugs.
Linear power supply adapters, which lack universal input, require different power units for worldwide use. Wall plug-in switching adapters can require the use of
commercial “luggage store” travel plug converters that are much larger than Phihong’s plugs.

have to carry one adapter with replaceable power plugs instead of different power converters, or for desktop systems that need multiple cords for each country,” said

Smaller than a business card and weighing only 4 oz. (less than a typical hand-held
calculator), the PSA-05R power supply features universal input, allowing it to operate for any worldwide line voltage from 90 to 264VAC. Various models provide a single
output ranging from 3.3V to 12V.
The double-insulated adapter is safety approved to UL1950 and meets CE (LVD and EMC) requirements as well as QAS, PSE, TUV and cUL requirements. The unit meets
FCC class B and EN55022B conducted noise limits, and leakage current is less than 250uA.
The PSA-05R measures just 2.8" x 1.8" x 1.4". It includes a 70-inch cable with center
-positive 2.1mm barrel connector. Pricing is $13.30/100 and the product is available off-the-shelf from Phihong’s franchised distributors.
